Case Study Approach to Statistics
           Ayesha Delpish, Elon University, NC
ABSTRACT
This essay details the instructor’s efforts to incorporate student voice into a statistics classroom while
facilitating a collaborative environment in which the instructor is seen not merely as the expert, but also
as a functioning member of the learning community. Through the use of the case method of teaching
and a design-as-you-go syllabus, students are afforded the opportunity to view themselves outside of
their traditional role as recipients of knowledge and instead as co-inquirers with responsibility for their
own learning.
