In recent years, educational uses of electronic portfolios, or e-portfolios,
have increased. They are seen in higher education, as well as the K-12
environment. However, the effective integration of e-portfolios in the
educational arena involves addressing a variety of issues, including
technology skills, adoption, time, support, and others. In this paper, we
discuss these, and other, issues while summarizing the literature related
to e-portfolios. Areas addressed include benefits of e-portfolios,
considerations for developing effective e-portfolios, and implications
related to implementing e-portfolios in various educational situations.
