Reconciling Language Teaching and Legal Concepts
Elsa Liebenberg, Law Faculty, University of Nice, France
As English has become the lingua franca in the fields of international
law, the question arises whether legal concepts should be lectured to
non-native speakers studying law, in English directly, or whether by
means of a process of collaboration between the legal specialist and
the language teacher. Although the teaching of Legal English has been
developed on a very large scale in France, teaching Law in English is
not yet acceptable in a law faculty.
