Focus: The focus of this issue is to examine how the act of writing, the teaching of writing, and the promotion of social justice intersect. Particular attention will be given to essays that explore the work of teaching writing for social justice. Submissions should thoughtfully consider and address how we – individually or collectively – define the work of teaching writing for social justice. “Teaching Writing for Social Justice” also encourages the investigation of the juxtapositions and intersections particular to writing and social justice in these and other areas: first-year writing, writing program administration, the pedagogy and/or practice of writing, writing across the curriculum/writing in the disciplines, writing centers, and secondary writing instruction. Who May Submit: Submissions are welcome from secondary instructors, graduate students, adjunct instructors, and professional staff and faculty at colleges and universities who focus on the teaching of writing. Researchers and scholars of Writing Across the Curriculum, Writing in the Disciplines, Writing Tutoring, Writing Centers, and First-Year Composition programs are particularly encouraged to submit manuscripts.
