Focus: Initiatives like the Partnership for 21st Century Skills advocate for the integration of Learning and Innovation, Information, Media and Technology and Life and Career Skills into the teaching of core academic subjects and 21st century themes. The aim is to prepare students for life and work in the 21st century. Teachers, therefore, have a major role in the development of these skills. As a result, they need to be prepared to effect the transition of schools from Industrial Age to Digital Age learning environments (ISTE, 2008).
