Focus:
Initiatives like the Partnership for 21st Century Skills advocate for the integration of Learning and Innovation, Information, Media and Technology and Life and Career Skills into the teaching of core academic subjects and 21st century themes. The aim is to prepare students for life and work in the 21st century. Teachers, therefore, have a major role in the development of these skills. As a result, they need to be prepared to effect the transition of schools from Industrial Age to Digital Age learning environments (ISTE, 2008).

This issue is encouraging the submission of articles that examine the use of learning technologies in teacher education with a focus on helping pre-service and in-service teachers to achieve the National Educational Standards for Teachers 2008. These include using technology to learn how to
  • Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity
  • Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments
  • Model Digital-Age Work and Learning
  • Promote and Model Digital Citizenship and Responsibility
  • Engage in Professional Growth and Leadership
Emphasis is placed on the use of Web 2.0 technologies.

Who May Submit:
Submissions are welcome from teachers, professors, professional developers, administrators, and graduate students (co-authoring with professors) who actively integrate learning technologies in their teaching or research the integration of learning technologies in teacher education environments. Please identify your submission with keyword: TECHNOLOGY-8.
